Old wells, coal mines
There are old wells (a part of the old Roman aqueduct which led to Caska) dating from Roman times in the field of Kolan that stand as the evidence of the times when all the inhabitants were coming to this area, abundant in clean, potable water, essential for living.
People went there to get water for their households; women were carrying there their clothes for washing, while men were filling their vessels to take the water to their herds of sheep whose breeding is characteristic for this island.
Not far from the old wells, the inhabitants of these areas used to dig for coal which was later transported to the neighboring port Šimuni where it was loaded on the Italian ships. The remains of the coal mine are still visible in the area of the valley of Kolan (Velike Grbe and Male Grbe). The images of those times can be seen in the Ethnographic museum.
